What's New:

Fly ash is a relatively new additive to the ready mix concrete business in our area. While it was actually first used in the United States in the formation of the Hoover Dam, it has just recently been added to our ready mix plants and to other company's plants as well.

Fly ash is a fine, glasslike powder recovered from gases created by coal-fired electric power generation. Fly ash is an inexpensive replacement for Portland cement used in concrete, while it actually improves strength, segregation, and ease of pumping of the concrete.

Because fly ash cement requires less water than Portland cement, it is easier to use in cold weather. It can be formulated to produce various set times, cold weather resistance, strengths and strength gains, depending on the job. Fly ash can be used sparingly as an admixture or in large amounts to replace Portland cement.

The benefits of using fly ash are many; including less use of water, greater water retention and greater workability. Because less water is used, it is less likely to crack. Fly ash can be formulated to produce various set times, cold weather resistance, strengths and strength gains, depending on the job requirements.

Radius of a Circle Formula:

Radius (1/2 diameter)(in feet) x itself = A
A x 3.1416 = B
B x depth (in feet) = C
C divided by 27 = D
